| SKYTALK 2009 2008 ROOKIE of the year Al Kasharian |
Hello, my name is Al Kasharian and I am the proud owner of the
Whitehall Loft. This is my rookie season. I grew up on our family farm
with my father (Kash’s Farm Loft) having homing pigeons since 1969 and I
was three years old at the time. I actually became more interested in
the birds in 1981 and often went to the club and clocked birds for my
father while he was at work. In 1992 I met my lovely future wife,
Alesandra. As time passed, my dad was getting older and not doing well
in the race results department. So my brother, Tim and I went to the
Alves/Ganus auction and bought five good breeders (all cocks). I went to
more auctions; 3-D Loft’s and bought four more great ones. Then to the
Chris Peeman/Oak Haven Farms Memorial Auction, bought one bird – my
foundation cock- 07-OHF6691BB a grandson of American Dream. I bought my
foundation hen –AU 07 Fast Lane 55 BB a daughter of “Peemans Dream” and
“Miss Dream” from my now great friend, Steve King. These two produced
unbelievable birds including IF 08 NWJ 2 who was 7X’s in the top 100
birds in CJC Races that helped me win this Rookie of the Year 2008. I
got the itch to start flying pigeons in January/ February of 2008 and on
March 21, 2008 my dream was realized to fulfill the itch. Thus, my
little 8x12 shed became a homing pigeon loft. I worked very hard and my
results pleased my dad the most as I was definitely following in his
foot steps. To sum this story up, I helped my Dad sixteen years ago, but
this is the first time I have flown on my own. I love this sport! I
would like to thank many people for helping me most all my wife and son,
Kyle. Even my lil girl Jackie who woke me every morning at 4:30 AM.
After I walked her and her brother, Daxter and they did their business.
I got myself a huge glass of ice water crated my birds and then scraped
the loft. I did the obvious after that. After their evening meal I’d
scrape that loft again. I scraped that loft so many times – I had to
laugh when that mid November morning came and everything was frozen.
Finally over a month after the season had ended I took a break. I am
applying for Champion Loft and have more than a few Hall of Fame bird
candidates. Thank you, Al KasharianWhitehall Loft of the N.W.J. H.P.C.
